About the Society
Society
for the Promotion of Science and Technology Studies (SPSTS) was
constituted (registered under the societies registration Act of 1860 vide
No.S/28440 on 26.9.1995 with the registrar of societies Government of
Delhi, Delhi, India) in 1995 as professional body. The Society is located
at: 232, Centre for Studies in Science Policy, School of Social Sciences,
Jawharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, 110067 (www.stssociety.com;
and e.mail: sts-society@indiatimes.com
. The aims and objectives of the Society are as follows:

The
primary objective of the society is to promote research in the broad field
of science, technology and society (STS) studies
in the developing countries of Asia, Latin America and Africa
through the publication of academic journal (Sage Publications, New Delhi,
Thousand Oaks and London) under the title, Science,
Technology & Society – An International Journal Devoted to the
Developing World.

To
promote research studies in the area of STSS by organizing seminars,
workshops, symposia etc., through the publication of relevant proceedings,
reports, books etc. The objective of the society also includes the effort
of bridging the STS academic studies with the science, technology and
policy for development.

To
generate interest among the emerging scholarship in the area of STS
through intellectual and other means of support.
·
The
society upholds the academic culture of free and objective expression as
far as possible and is non-political organization. The society will
consciously avoid any kind of party-political or religious affiliations
detrimental to the aims and objectives of the society.
